Skip appoints new head of brand and promotions

Amy Gaertner has returned to Canada after spending time abroad to become the new director of brand and promotions at Toronto-based Skip.

At Skip, Gaertner’s expertise in marketing and business strategy will be relied on to “strengthen the brand’s promise and drive customer engagement through advertising, sponsorships, social strategy, and promotions,” a news release said.

Prior, Gaertner was head of operational planning for Virgin Media 02 in London, where she played a key role in aligning priorities, leveraging sophisticated segmentation and operationalizing strategic capabilities for the organization’s mobile division.

She is a former integrated campaigns director for Mastercard, also based out of the U.K., where she was responsible for departmental output for sponsorship, promotions and B2B divisions.

Gaertner has worked on campaigns for Bombay Sapphire, TIFF, UEFA Champions League, Brit Awards and Toronto Fashion Week.

She began her career agency-side as an account executive with Cossette in Toronto where she worked on financial services and consumer packaged goods and with food and beverage clients.

MLSE makes brand and fan-engagement move

is stepping into a new role as director, integrated brand marketing and fan engagement at MLSE Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE). She was most recently the senior brand manager for Toronto Raptors and Toronto FC.

Before joining MLSE, Mansillo was partner and director of strategy and new business at creative house Alia where she provided strategic and new-business leadership and managed teams responsible for digital-creative and campaign strategy.

Before that, she held an account management role with FCB/Six, where she worked on the CIBC CRM trigger campaigns and within-site marketing for Investors Edge clients.

Embark hires former Goeasy senior marketer as its new CMO

Embark Student Corp. has named Caley Adair as its CMO.

Adair will help accelerate the financial institution’s growth in the role and build on its mandate to “make education savings easier and more accessible for all,” according to a news release.

For nearly four years, Adair was Goeasy’s VP of digital marketing and growth.
He also spent time as assistant VP of growth marketing at Scotiabank and as director of media, content strategy and global marketing at Sunlife Financial.

Royal Unibrew Canada names new head of marketing

Rasmus Fladberg is starting a new position as head of marketing at Royal Unibrew Canada, the Danish maker of beer brands such as Faxe and parent company of Amsterdam Brewing. Prior, Fladberg was Royal Unibrew Canada’s marketing manager.

Before that, for nearly four years, he served as international brand manager for Unibrew, based out of Denmark, and was responsible for managing Royal Unibrew’s International brand portfolios with various brand responsibilities in the beer, cider, RTD and energy-drink categories.
