Agency News: Cossette Toronto names new ECD, appoints pair of GCDs

Cossette Toronto promote Trent Thompson to ECD

Cossette Toronto has promoted Trent Thompson (above, centre) to the position of executive creative director and appointed long-time creative partners Dana Ciani (above left) and Alyssa Graff (above, right) as group creative directors.

Cossette announced in March that Thompson was rejoining the agency as its group creative director. He held the same position during his first tenure at Cossette from 2015 to 2017 when he helped shaped some of the agency’s best known work, including the launch of the SickKids “VS” platform.

Thompson returned to Cossette after two years as a creative director at Oliver. He also worked in VP and creative director roles at No Fixed Address and BBDO Canada during his time away from Cossette.

A cross-disciplinary writer and creative leader, Thompson has worked on campaigns for brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Rogers, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection and Dairy Farmers of Ontario. He also helped create the mentoring and networking site Groundfloor and is an instructor in the commercial program at Humber Polytechnic.

Graff and Ciani have built a decade-long creative partnership during their 6 1/2-year tenures at Cossette and during time working together at Taxi. The duo has handled campaign work for Walmart, Google, McDonald’s and more.

“Whether it’s shaping work or mentoring others, they [all] represent the kind of innovative and collaborative leadership that will inspire our teams and clients to continue to push past the expected,” Cossette CCO Driscoll Reid said.

William Thomas Digital changes name to WTD amid revamp

William Thomas Digital has relaunched as WTD.

WTD says the name change coincides with a revamped business model centred around its proprietary platform AgenticCX. Applied across all of the company’s work, AgenticCX blends AI agents, generative creative, martech and data infrastructure.

“For the first time, the smartest systems and the most imaginative experiences can be built together,” said Greg Elliott, CEO of WTD, (above, right). “AgenticCX gives marketing teams the confidence to do more – to move with velocity, personalize at scale and bring bold ideas to life within the teams, platforms and ecosystems they already rely on.”

As part of the relaunch, WTD announced that Emma Lyndon (above, left) would be adding the title of managing director to her duties as chief operating officer, a position she has held for more than 6 1/2 years.
