Update: The jury is out and Canada did not make the cut in the final 2014 Cannes Lion categories, Integrated and Titanium.
Yesterday, JWT landed on the Film shortlist for its satirical Canadian Film Festival spot “Best Extra” and today, the agency got a mention on the Film Craft list for another comical spot for the festival, “Canadian Zombie.” In the ad (which was produced by Spy Films), a fictional professional actor and actual zombie is shown misunderstood by Hollywood. He decides to fight his polite Canadian urges inside and attempt to become the best spine-chilling corpse in show business.

Another entertainment-focused spot got a mention in Film Craft, this time for Netflix Canada by DDB Canada. The “Pep Talk” spot (which was produced by Partners Film, Cycle Media and Wave Sound Productions) begins in a locker room, with a coach attempting to pump his team up for the game by “quoting” a speech that’s used in a movie on Netflix as an example of the kind of speech he’d like to give (but ends up not giving at all, with the tagline “You got to get to get it.”)
