Dentsu Creative promotes ECD from within
Scott Tavener is starting a new position as executive creative director at Dentsu Creative after spending a year as a creative director at the agency.
In the past, Tavener served in associate creative director roles with at Cossette and Edelman, based in Toronto.
His campaign work includes “Sorry for the Wait,” for McDonald’s, “Collisions” for Axe, “Payroll” for HP, “Oat Yes,” for Becel and “Uncommon” for eBay.
His prize-winning work has been recognized at Cannes, the Clios, the Shortys and the CMA Awards.
Thinkingbox, The Heist make additions
The Heist, an animation, motion design and live-action studio, and its parent company Thinkingbox are expanding with creative and production staff from advertising-services firm The Mill joining their operations. The move coincides with the opening of a Chicago office to support the expansion of The Heist and Thinkingbox.
Patrick Coleman (above) joins The Heist as executive creative director and will oversee creative operations across North America from his base in Chicago.
Also joining Thinkingbox from The Mill are Blake Nickle, who is taking a director of production role, and Jason Esser, who has accepted a creative director position. Justin Inman brings his team along with him from The Mills as he becomes Thinkingbox’s SVP of business development.
A news release says the additions will add depth to Thinkingbox’s studios in Los Angeles, New York, Salt Lake City, Vancouver, Toronto, Mexico City and Chicago.
Salt XC hires group CD
Cody Finney is starting a new position as group creative director at Salt XC.
Finney has a background in the music, sports, experiential, content creation and traditional advertising industries.
Finney previously performed creative director duties at Victory and Universal Music Group.
He was also art director with Behaviour where contributed to work on a client roster that included Uber, Molson Coors, Tim Hortons, Tweed and Starbucks.
McCann Worldgroup names new marketing and comms director
Jamie Jensen is starting a new position as marketing and communications director at McCann Worldgroup.
She was most recently marketing and communications manager for visual-effects studio DNEG.
Jensen was also a communications specialist with Corus.
