Aldo tries on North Strategic

North Strategic’s most recent hire is providing immediate returns.

The PR agency announced Wednesday it has hired Wendie Godbout to lead its Montreal office. The senior account director joins from Montreal-based Aldo Group, where she was the shoe retailer’s PR director for the past two years. Aldo has decided to continue its relationship with Godbout, meaning that with her move, North will now provide senior-level counsel, strategy and corporate and crisis communications support to Aldo’s internal communications team.

“Certainly she has gained the trust and respect from the senior leadership team from within the C-suite through all the marketing team,” says North Strategic co-founder Justin Creally. “It was a great testament to what kind of teammate she is that they were reluctant to lose that.

“Now she will have some more support from the rest of the North team as well.”

Narrative PR will continue to handle media relations for Aldo in English Canada.

Creally says he had reached out to Godbout to lead the Montreal agency, which North plans to expand to 10 staff members from five by next year. Godbout was previously an account director at High Road Communications when Creally was president.

“We were looking to make a more senior hire in Montreal and we knew Wendie was the perfect fit for that,” he says.
