The Canadian Olympic Foundation has brought on Halifax creative agency Colour to boost social media engagement around current and future athletes in the lead-up to next year’s Games in Rio.
The agency is tasked with revamping the organization’s social presence and creating an engagement campaign during the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games in Toronto (which kick off next month). The foundation, a charitable organization affiliated with the Canadian Olympic Committee, funds high performance sport programs recommended by the Own the Podium program. It also provides funding to support athlete development for future Olympic competitors.
“The Olympic movement has taken off in Canada since our performance in Vancouver 2010,” Leanne Nicolle, executive director of the Canadian Olympic Foundation, said in a press release. “We want to keep that momentum going, and there’s no better way to do that than through social media. Colour will be helping us tell the many inspiring stories of Canada’s athletes, and build national pride in the amazing athletes who represent our country.”
Colour, which has offices in Toronto and St. John’s, has a client roster that includes Nestlé, Canadian Tire, Dalhousie University and Telus, among others.
Earlier this year, the Canadian Olympic Committee worked with Cossette on a video and social campaign called “#NowOrNever,” its first-ever Pan Am Games marketing initiative centred on athletes.
