Jason Chaney will be moving back to Toronto after Cossette announced today he’s joined their executive ranks as SVP strategy and planning.
Chaney leaves Montreal-based Lg2, where he was VP strategy. Prior to that, he was VP strategy and innovation at Tribal DDB in Toronto, where he worked on the “Our Food. Your Questions” McDonald’s Canada campaign.
He started on Monday and is the latest high-profile name to arrive at the agency in recent months, following the hiring of digital specialist Andrea Cook as SVP national client. Prior to that, Glen Hunt and Dave Lafond joined the shop, with Hunt being named chief transformation officer and Lafond as president, English Canada.
Lafond calls Chaney a “really important” hire, saying he is the right fit for Cossette as it transforms to a fully-integrated agency.
“He has an integrated skill set that fits really nicely in our environment,” Lafond says, adding that Chaney will take on a new role as head of strategy across the agency, including digital, analytics, brand planning and business strategy.
“People in Montreal are talking about how Cossette has really been on a roll lately and I felt I wanted to be part of that,” Chaney said in a statement. “I think the fact that it is the only agency that combines all disciplines and services – including media – under one roof is a large part of that success.”
