Leo Burnett, DDB and FCB got to add a gold jacket with slick black lapel, to their closets after the Bessies last night. Oh, and the jackets each came with a Best of Show trophy too.
The three shops picked up the coveted trophies in three categories: Digital, Television and Craft. The first Digital Best of Show was awarded to Leo Burnett for its attempts to erase stereotypes surrounding the term “Like A Girl” for P&G brand Always. The Television prize went to DDB for also instilling confidence (this time in hockey players) with its humorous “Pep Talk” for Netflix, and the Craft award went to FCB for packing a powerful punch in its “Invade” spot for Ontario Tourism.
A few other notable prizes were given out. Creative director Chris Staples of Rethink received the Spiess Award, director Michael Clowater was given the Don Award, while Radke vice-president and producer Scott Mackenzie received the Janet Wood Award and compositor Ernie Mordak was given the Bob Mann Award.
