Christopher Andrews has been tapped as the new CEO of Ogilvy Canada, as current agency head Arthur Fleischmann plans to step aside from his roles at both Ogilvy and WPP at year’s end.
Andrews (pictured top left) has more than two decades of experience in the advertising industry. Most recently, he was BBDO Canada’s president and CEO, a role he assumed in the spring of 2020. Before that, he was president of The&Partnership, where he brought together creative, media and CRM and oversaw work for clients including Toyota, Telus, Manulife/John Hancock, Canada Post and Sleeman/Sapporo.
Previously, as EVP and global account head for Leo Burnett Worldwide out of Chicago, Andrews headed up Leo Burnett Group’s global Coca-Cola business, overseeing disciplines including brand advertising, digital, shopper marketing and activation covering markets including U.S., LATAM, Western Europe, Greater China and APAC. Andrews was also longtime managing director for Taxi, based out of the Netherlands.
Fleischmann (pictured top right) has also managed WPP’s operations in Canada as country manager since January 2021, in addition to his role as CEO of Ogilvy Canada. Prior to WPP, he co-founded John St. in 2001, which joined the Ogilvy network in 2013. Fleischmann will work closely with Andrews to ensure a smooth transition of the CEO role over the coming months. WPP will make an announcement about Fleischmann’s country manager successor shortly.
“With his extensive experience at top agencies and deep understanding of the Canadian market, [Andrews] is uniquely positioned to build on Ogilvy’s commitment to creative excellence and delivering impactful work for our clients,” says Devika Bulchandani, global CEO of Ogilvy. “We’re excited to welcome him to Ogilvy Canada as [Fleischmann] prepares to begin a new chapter. [His] impact on Ogilvy, and the Canadian advertising landscape as a whole, is undeniable. He leaves behind an incredible legacy and will always remain a part of our Ogilvy family.”
Ogilvy Canada’s clients include TD Bank, Dove, Hellmann’s, Metrolinx, H&R Block, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Absolut, JP Wiser’s and Mitsubishi, the most recent brand to tap the agency as creative lead.
