Here’s what made Design AOY winners Rethink, LG2 and Sid Lee shine

This week, we will be rolling out profiles of this year’s Agency of the Year winners. Check out the winners in other categories here.

Last week, we featured stories from the Fall print edition of Strategy Magazine, starting with what made the Media Agency of the Year winners shine. So far this week, we’ve highlighted the Agency, Small and Digital AOY winners. Today, we’re focusing on the Design winners.

First up, Rethink won the Gold Design medal, after picking up the top award in the Digital, Agency and PR categories for work that continues to tap into cultural trends. The agency attributes its success to balancing growth and culture.

The Silver runner-up was LG2, which has said design is baked into the agency’s ethos. “At LG2, design is part of our core offering – it’s not an afterthought,” says Claude Auchu, the indie agency’s partner and CEO.

Sid Lee picked up a Bronze after combining its Toronto, Montreal and U.S. teams this year, a move that helped reinforce the creative-led values of an agency that has impacted the ad world for decades.
