Canadian teams brought home prizes in both the Young Lions Film category and the Young Marketers to add to Canada’s total hardware count for the week.
Taking Silver in Young Lions Film was Hannah Smit and Kyle Lamb from John St. The brief for the competition in Cannes asked the 42 Young Lions Film teams from around the world to create a video targeting people around the age of 25 to focus on combating old age discrimination for Help Age International.
Smit and Lamb went with a light hearted approach to the video, saying no matter what you do “you’re going to get old someday,” with a catchy jingle to accompany the message.
The Young Marketers team of Sahar Jamal from Reckitt Benckiser and Michelle Yee from Telus won Bronze in this year’s competition. Thier brief had the team creating a project for Room to Read, a non-profit organization for improving literacy and gender equality in education in the developing world.
Strategy caught up with the team to ask them about their experience and how it feels to win the second Bronze in as many years for Canada.
