Birch Hill buys Rexall Pharmacy Group
Birch Hill Equity Partners has signed a definitive agreement with McKesson Corporation to acquire pharmacy retailer Rexall Pharmacy Group and e-commerce retailer Well.ca.
Birch Hill is a Canadian mid-market private equity firm based in Toronto, which currently has $5 billion in capital under management.
According to the equity firm, “there is tremendous opportunity to strengthen the role Rexall plays in the healthcare landscape, providing more services to Canadians from more locations, including pharmacy primary care to address critical healthcare needs.”
The transaction is subject to necessary regulatory clearances.
Rexall operates 385 pharmacies across Canada with approximately 8,000 employees, while Well.ca offers 40,000 products for health, beauty, baby, home, and green and natural.
This summer, Rexall named SkipTheDishes as a retail partner, with 245 of Rexall’s locations available across the Skip network.
