LG2 has named a new creative leader to helm its Toronto office, appointing Josh Stein as its new chief creative officer.
Stein joins the office on December 4, moving from McCann Canada, where he had been CCO for the past four years.
At McCann, Stein was responsible for a team of 40 creative professionals in the network’s Toronto, Montreal and Calgary offices, working on clients including Chevrolet, Mastercard, Wendy’s and Kids Help Phone. He has also previously worked in senior creative leadership roles at agencies including Tribal Worldwide and Proximity BBDO.
He joins LG2 in a similar capacity, while also becoming a partner in the Toronto office.
According to Stein, the agency “has been inspiring me since the early days,” and he enters the agency with the mandate of helping its Toronto office “keep pushing to work to its full potential.”
“I think a new voice and a little bit of fire is going to help the agency,” he tells strategy, while noting that the team has already been doing stellar work. Stein points to VP and ECD of design Ryan Crouchman, a fellow partner in the Toronto shop, as a creative he is excited to work with.
“Creative consistency is so hard in this business, but year after year, LG2 seems to make it look easy,” he says.
Along with Crouchman, Stein joins a Toronto partnership group that includes president Jeremy Gayton; VP of strategy Keith Barry; and VP of client services Shelly-Ann Scott, who became a partner in May after joining the agency last year.
“Josh is a proven, experienced leader and professional,” says Gayton. “More importantly, he has true entrepreneurial spirit, and a keen interest in developing great teams and creating great work. His vision and passion for people make him a perfect fit for LG2 and particularly our Toronto office. It was a unanimous decision from all of our partners.”
Stein is “an incredible creative and will bring a strong perspective to Toronto,” adds Claude Auchu, partner and CEO of the agency. “It’s a market where we see a huge potential for growth… with Josh’s leadership we know they will achieve even greater things.”
McCann Canada will announce a new creative leader in the coming weeks, according to a spokesperson, who added that Stein “has been a significant contributor to our agency’s success, helping to elevate our product, grow our people and shape our culture.”
In the meanwhile, the agency will rely on its “strong bench of creative leaders” both within McCann Canada and McCann Worldgroup for any support needed, the spokesperson told strategy.
