Zavida launches new advent calendar for Nespresso pods

Coffee roaster Zavida is building on the success of last year’s single-serve 24 Days of Coffee Advent Calendar, introducing a Nespresso-compatible version alongside the return of its Keurig compatible original.

The new Advent Calendar features 24 days of espresso in 100% aluminum capsules, offering a mix of eight blends, with both flavoured and non-flavoured options. Compatible with the Nespresso Original system includes flavours like Crème Brûlée and newcomers such as Almond Biscotti.

It was designed to emphasize a premium look and feel, marking a fresh addition to the lineup, says Darlyn Reyes, senior director of marketing and eCommerce at Zavida Canada. “The popularity of our first Advent Calendar exceeded expectations, and this year we’re taking things even further,” Reyes says, telling strategy that last year’s calendar sold out in 72 hours.

Rather than simply repeating last year’s success, Reyes says the launch of the Nespresso-compatible calendar is more about innovating and evolving to offer more variety – a strategy Zavida leaned into with its Costco “road show” sampling programs.

Reyes says Zavida saw an opportunity to enhance the experience, with this year’s packaging revamped to give customers a sneak peek of the flavours behind each door.

And after last year’s success, the Canadian coffee roaster is expanding production to meet the high demand.

“Some customers were disappointed when they couldn’t find Zavida’s Advent Calendar in their local stores and reached out to us directly, even after we sold out online,” Reyes says.

Calendars will be available at Walmart Canada nationwide starting Nov. 21 and at the coffee brand’s online site.

Marketing efforts include tradeshows, trade magazines, exclusive couponing, digital and PR. Zavida is also engaging in email and digital marketing, working on holiday gift guides and influencer partnerships, as well as adding recipe content, contests and engagement opportunities for consumer feedback.

Calendars will also be in the Walmart flyer, and Walmart included the Advent Calendar in its holiday influencer program to boost visibility.
