Industry Moves: Immortal Awards recognize first Canadian project

Rethink’s Heinz ad becomes first Canadian Immortal Award winner

The 2023 Immortal Award winners were announced on Wednesday (Jan. 17), and for the first time, it recognized a Canadian project.

Rethink’s ‘Heinz Ketchup Fraud’ print work for Kraft Heinz North America received one of three Immortal Awards in this year’s competition, the first for a Canadian project. Rethink also received a commendation from the Immortal Awards for Decathlon’s ‘Ability Signs’ campaign.

This year marked the first time the Immortal Awards’ global jury only recognized three projects, after four were rewarded in each of the competition’s first five years. But nine total projects received commendations this year, being recognized as standout creative advertising projects.

The winners were selected from a global shortlist of 32 pieces, which was deliberated on by jurors from around the world who met in New York in December. A total of 137 jurors participated in the search for this year’s Immortal Award winners.

The other Immortal winners this year were Apple’s “The Greatest” campaign and Canal+’s “Papa” campaign.

This marks the sixth year of competition for the Immortal Awards, which recorded a 48% year-on-year increase in the number of entries it received into the competition.
