Matt Shoom-Kirsch has been promoted to chief operating officer for North America at Taxi, effective immediately.
Previously VP, client operations for North America, Shoom-Kirsch will continue to lead client operations across Taxi’s network in his new position, while also joining the North American leadership team of CEO and president Rob Guenette, chief strategy officer Mark Tomblin, CFO Andrew Packwood and Taxi USA president David Jenkins. The reporting structure at Taxi remains unchanged.
Shoom-Kirsch joined the agency in 2010 as general manager for Taxi 2, before moving to its main Toronto office in 2013 and taking on the VP, client operations roll at the beginning of this year.
The creation of the new North American COO role is in response to growth Taxi has seen in its business this year, which has included new wins from Moosehead, Cogeco, Casino Rama, Leon’s and SaskTel, as well as expanded work with Kraft Heinz and Campbell.
Growth in Taxi’s business in the U.S. has also led to plans for further expansion south of the border to add to its office in New York, which will be announced in further detail by the end of the year.
On the talent side, Taxi has seen a number of moves both in and out of its offices this year. While it has bid farewell to former Toronto ECD and a creative team who headed to MacLaren McCann, a pair of ACDs to Sid Lee and a CD in Montreal, it has also welcomed back ECD Jordan Doucette and ACD Shawn James. Taxi also absorbed the operations of Y&R Toronto in July.
