Its members might be tough customers, but when it comes to giving credit where credit is due, the Canadian Media Directors Council has its heart in the right place.
In the first of what the CMDC says will be an annual ceremony, the organization recognized six media suppliers for excellence in sales and customer service at its recent conference in Toronto.
The awards were presented by David Cairns, president of Toronto-based media management firm Carat Cairns, who lauded the six for their willingness to "consistently exceed customer expectations".
The winners are as follows:
In the Radio category, Target Broadcast Sales took top honours, beating out 14 other contenders.
In Magazine, Reader’s Digest shut out the competition.
In Newspaper, a category frequently criticized for its poor service and lack of flexibility, The Globe and Mail got the nod.
Mediacom took the top prize in Out-of-Home, a category that survey respondents noted has "some of the best salespeople in the industry."
In Television, NetStar Sales topped the list. And finally, DoubleClick Canada won kudos in the Online category.
The winners were chosen as the result of a CMDC member survey.
